Kamon – Mobile Art

kamon - jon montenegro
Cellphone art, created by cellphones.
This ongoing interactive and print art series originally started in 2004, and created for mobile phones and/or PDA devices. The interactive art piece utilizes Adobe’s Flashlite technology to obtain a persons cellphone signal as a medium. These cellphone signals are then used by a Flash based (AI) to interpret and create a personalized visual representation of the cellphone signals using Japanese kamons as a visual element.

These cellphone art pieces represent exploration into found interactive compositions, evolved from cell phone signals, influenced by Japanese culture and symbols.

Some artwork was selected to be featured in the Helio Art Gallery, Santa Monica, CA.
